I have been a Principal Clinical Research Associate at ICON Early Phase Services since 2006 performing and coordinating all aspects of clinical monitoring in early phase clinical studies. This was a bit of a change from my previous monitoring experience, as we work with a variety of pharmaceutical companies. There are new therapy areas to learn and many different standard operating procedures to work with! It is a new challenge for me, but I have been enjoying it.
Prior to working at ICON, I was employed as a Clinical Research Associate at Pfizer, Inc. I monitored Phase I and 2A studies in the Study Management group. We were working with all therapeutic groups on a variety of new drugs. Unfortunately, I can't share with you all that I did, however, feel free to visit the Pfizer home page to learn more about the world's largest pharmaceutical company. While at Pfizer, I was working as a contract employee through Epcom Corporation. They provide employees to numerous companies, mostly in computer technologies. Visit their web page to learn more about them. |
Previously, my job at the University of Michigan Health System in the Department of Radiology was Manager of Clinical Trials. I oversaw the conduct of clinical trials for the Department of Radiology. I supervised a staff of five clinical research assistants, interpreted and implemented investigational protocols, and was responsible for pre-award activity.
In addition to managing the Clinical Trials division, I also was responsible for coordinating several clinical research studies of my own. My duties as a clinical research coordinator included assisting in preparation for site visits, coordinating data intake and tracking of all study patients, maintaining and completing case report forms, copying and forwarding x-ray films as necessary, and maintaining the patient tracking database for device studies. A majority of the studies I coordinated were with Dr. David Williams in Interventional Radiology. These studies all involved the use of a stent to treat vascular disease. I passed the Association of Clinical Research Professionals Certified Clinical Research Associate exam in 2010 and have continued to maintained my certification as of November 2018. |
